Growing up in a household resonating with the sounds of the 70s, courtesy of his father's trumpet skills, DevRock's early exposure to hip hop, soul, and RnB laid the groundwork for his artistic journey.

DevRock furthered his writing explorations in college with poetry classes and debates. The poetry classes provided the formal knowledge of the craft, while the debate team helped him to develop his unique writing style. And both fueled his literary explorations.
